I'm so excited! Today is the kick off for my month long anniversary/birthday celebration! As I mentioned in the post yesterday, I have some wonderful blog candy for my readers and I can't wait for you to get started!
Week One Cause - Valentine Cards for the Elderly

A couple of years ago we had to put my Grandmother in a nursing home. Every time I visited her, I always saddened when I noticed how lonely some of the residents seemed to be. My Grandmother was never short on visitors, but I know for a fact that some of the residents in her hall never saw a family member except during the holidays. There are so many elderly out there who would be thrilled to receive a card for Valentine's Day! So here's your challenge - make a Valentine themed card for an elderly man or woman. There are no limits on colors, layers, embellishments, etc. Leave a link to your card in the comment section of this post and then mail the card to me! I will be sending all the cards for this challenge to a local nursing home/assisted living center for distribution. If you have time, please feel free to make more than one!
The mailing address is listed below:

The goody for this week is a $25 Gift Certificate to My Favorite Things! The winner will be announced next Sunday during the Week Two Challenge! Thank you so much for playing toward a good cause!

Wow, there's a great challenge...because I feel that the seniors in nursing homes get forgotten. Here is my card that I posted on my blog : www.mystampinggrounds.blogspot.com
Quick question, do you want the inside of the cards to be blank??
Thank you for this challenge :)!

What a great idea! I posted my card here: http://cricketpe.blogspot.com/2009/01/my-first-card-for-cause.html.
It's my first attempt at card for anyone other than my friends/family; I'm quite the newbie, so it's pretty simple!
Also, should I send it to you now, or wait until after your other challenges?

I love this challenge! I work in a nursing home and I think this is a FABULOUS idea! I've decided, in addition to sending the card I made for this chance at candy, I'm going to start delivering a few cards a week where I work. I've got quite a stash and I'm sure they would be appreciated! Thank you so much for the chance at a fabulous prize from MFT, but also for inspiring me to be more active with the elderly I see daily! Here's the link to my card.
