Good morning girls! Time for another Blast from the Past Blog Hop from Taylor and the crew at Taylored Expressions!
This month, Taylor challenged us to be thankful. Should be a pretty easy challenge given that we are just a week and day away from THANKSGIVING! Can you believe it? While Taylor has some adorable Thanksgiving stamps, this month I decided to let someone know how thankful I am for them.
Way back when I was in elementary school, we moved to a little town in southeastern Oklahoma called Hartshorne. It's a little bigger than a wide spot in the road, but not much. We lived there from the time I was in the 5th grade until I was a junior in high school. Even though I didn't graduate from HHS, I was still included when it came time for the 25th reunion last month.
As I was looking through the old yearbook pages, I saw a picture of a girl and I wondered how in the world she was doing. When we were in school together, I always admired her - (a fact she may have not realized until this post). She was pretty, popular and had a great clothes! (I always wanted to see what she was wearing everyday) We were a year apart grade wise, but we were on the same cheerleading squad, and in a town the size of Hartshorne, you pretty much knew everything about everyone. While I wasn't in her "circle", I still counted her as one of my friends.
So, when I got home the next day, I did what every normal person does when they want to find someone - I Googled her! She had a Facebook page and I looked her up. I was stunned to read that in addition to her being a wife, mother of two and a school teacher, she had been diagnosed with cancer and is now in the fight of her life. We've been visiting now for a few weeks via FB and I read her Caring Bridge site in its entirety. She is an AMAZING woman! Reading her words has had an incredible impact on me. About the time I start to get a little lazy, I'm reminded of the things she truly doesn't feel like doing, but she's doing them anyway. I believe God has the ability to miraculously heal and I am praying for her healing daily. While she lives in Missouri now, I found it completely amazing that her treatments are here in Tulsa! I dont' believe it was an accident that I went to that reunion, saw her picture and found her. I am looking forward to sitting with her very soon and having a good old fashioned girl talk! Until then, I wanted to send her a little something to brighten her day. . .
I chose one of the Bible verses from Taylored Expressions Rest & Renewal Set. I stamped it in Memento Rich Cocoa ink and then using Taylor's Frame It Up #1 Die, I cut out three frames. I inked up the edges and then layered them. . .
I finished everything off with brown silk ribbon, a felt rose and pearls. . .
I certainly hope Jana enjoys this card! I also hope she knows, that even after 25 years, I still look up to her and she is touching my life in a way that few have. And for that, I am truly thankful!

Wow, Lesa, what a story. . .I'll bet she's glad you found her. Your card is so lovely and will be received with love I'm sure :)
